El portal Newwletter de British Council Spain publica un ártículo sobre el trabajo de nuestro centro está realizando en materia de experimentación en el área de Science. Cremos que es necesario llevar la ciencia a contextos prácticos y atractivos para el alumnado de acuerdo con el currículo integrado Britsh Council, de ahí la creación del Aula de la Ciencia. Gracias a Phil, nuestro Auxiliar de Conversación, que ha invertido todo su esfuerzo e ilusión en actividades de inmersión lingüística para el alumnado de E. At CEIP Alba Plata (Cáceres), science is definitely hands on. This year, the school has taken a big step forward in delivering practical STEM learning by creating a dedicated science classroom and giving all primary pupils one hour a week to experiment, explore and observe.
It all started with a deep dive into curriculum design. The team successfully aligned their BEP Science curriculum with the Spanish LOMLOE framework, carefully mapping out learning goals, evaluation criteria, and performance indicators. But they felt something was still missing: hands-on scientific skills.
So, the next step was to repurpose a space within the school to become a fully-equipped science lab. Materials from around the school were gathered, sorted, labelled, and grouped into themed “corners” – each one focusing on a different area of the science curriculum. Posters, labels, and a huge visual guide to the scientific method now bring the space to life and support independent learning.
And the result of all this work? Happy, curious learners, fully engaged in science.
